Athletic Injuries and Recovery
Having been a full time martial arts student for 35 years, and run a dojo for 20 of those - Athletic Nutrition and recovery has ALWAYS been a huge passion of mine. When i was in my PhD program, there was an optional class on exactly this!!!
NO - it is NOT optional - the only thing that sucked? It was towards the very end of the program, and I had to wait nearly four years to take it! Uggghhhhhh.
I know a lot about this stuff, from experience, and school. But where I relate is my clumsy self that decided to start karate so many years ago, and then teach it.
I do not think I know a lot because of what I learned in school, No…. I know a lot because of all the injuries I have had over the years, in conjunction with that.
I firmly believe that knowledge of this sort is borderline-useless if you haven’t seen the other side, so that you understand the facts, and can adjust accordingly to individual situations.
I was fortunate enough to study athletic recovery under Tudor Bompa and Bob Forrester in Santa Monica, CA; long before my PhD days.
