Over

Fifty

I started martial arts in April 1991. I was 19 years old.

I could once do a split (Front split, never a side split). I could once leap over people. I could once take just about anything you threw at me (I was a tough little booger). I could once, I could once, I could once, roflmao.

In August 2024, “Covid Heart” threw me for a serious loop. I ended up in the hospital for 2 weeks in severe heart failure. I was once so strong, tough and fast. Not anymore, I was a shadow of myself. I was no longer Superman, as a matter of fact, I was not even Clark Kent, I was Clark Kent with a rather severe flu…

I had to relearn how to be strong and fast again at the age of 52.

And you know what - I did.

I could once do 200 push-ups non-stop (I seriously could). One November 17, 2024 I could now do five, and I was toasted. I could barely VERY SLOWLY jog around the local football field!

One year later, on November 17, 2025, I did TWO crossfit workouts, ran 5k with my dog, and did a 6-cycle HIIT workout (If you know that is). I guess I had something to prove.

Then came November 18, 2025. OMG, I hurt everywhere, lol!!!

But you see, I have a deep love and heart for all my fellow old people, I had a real glimpse of what it is to be human, and it SUCKS!

I fell in love with older people, who maybe at one time were too virile, fit and young. I just suddenly got it. I “Got” it. I love working with them whether it be Tai Chi, chair exercises or just talking about talking, while they lift a few light weights.

I got “Silver Sneaker” certified, and even teach a few Silver Sneaker classes at the gym.

I love my “Oldies but Goodies” . They are sooooooooo much more interesting than the 25 year old fighters I used to coach!
