What uniquely qualifies us to work with kids is different however. I am bound somewhat by trust and confidentiality in a public forum on this matter, but there was one child I worked with for years, who most thought was not salvageable. I wondered myself at times… 

 

In my PhD studies we had to take three classes on brain and behavioral developments. Not to be therapists, but because it is integral to healing. Every day and every class, I thought of this person, and understood them more and more. 

 

I think my graduate studies did more for me to understand and help this person, than anything else.
